Stone-look tiled wet room with frameless glass screen and linear drain

Wet Room Installation in Glasgow

Fully tanked wet rooms with proper falls, for homes in Glasgow, West Lothian (including Bathgate and Livingston) and Edinburgh.

Overview

A wet room is a fully waterproofed wet zone — typically with a continuous floor that falls to a drain — so water can hit the floor without damaging the structure behind the tiles. Done properly, it feels seamless, modern and easy to move around in. AdiDeccor installs wet rooms for homes in Glasgow, West Lothian (including Bathgate and Livingston) and Edinburgh, with the same attention to tanking, tiling and finish that we bring to full bathroom renovations.

What a wet room usually means

  • 01The shower area (and often the whole bathroom floor) is tanked as a waterproof system
  • 02The floor is laid to falls toward a drain (point or linear)
  • 03Glass may still be used as a splash screen, but the floor itself is designed to get wet
  • 04There is often little or no raised tray — helpful for a level-access feel

Tanking, ageing-in-place and materials

Waterproofing is the heart of wet room installation. We plan where the tanking system stops, pipe and waste penetrations, junctions at doorways if the whole room is wet, and compatibility with your chosen tiles. Many clients choose a wet room because they want a bathroom that is easier to use now, or that will stay usable as mobility needs change — lower thresholds, space to move, and room to add rails or seating later. We are not a medical adaptations contractor; if you need occupational-therapist-specified equipment, say so early. Porcelain and other low-porosity tiles, anti-slip floor ratings and quality drains sized for the shower output suit wet rooms best.

A wet room takes longer than a like-for-like suite swap, because formers, tanking and cure times matter. We give a project-specific window after seeing the room.

Cost

What affects the cost of a wet room?

Wet rooms involve more structural preparation than a standard shower, so the scope is set after a survey. The main factors are:

  • 01Floor construction — timber joists or concrete — and the former or screed needed for falls
  • 02Drain type and position, point or linear
  • 03How much of the room is tanked: the shower zone or the whole floor
  • 04Tile choice and the anti-slip rating needed underfoot

We explain each of these at consultation so the quote reflects the bathroom you actually want. Request a quote.

FAQs

Wet rooms answered.

How long does a wet room installation take?

+

Longer than a like-for-like suite swap, because formers, tanking and cure times matter. We give a project-specific window after seeing the room.

Can you install a wet room upstairs?

+

Often yes, with the right former, tanking and attention to the ceiling below. Flats and timber floors need careful assessment.

Do wet rooms smell or stay damp?

+

A correctly drained and ventilated wet room should not trap water on the floor. Extraction and daily habits help surfaces dry.

Wet room vs walk-in shower — which should I pick?

+

Choose a wet room for level access and a fully open wet floor; choose a walk-in when a tray or defined zone is enough. We advise after seeing the space.

Do you only work in Glasgow?

+

Glasgow is our main area; West Lothian and Edinburgh are regularly covered. Fife by enquiry.
